Another 911 Near-Miss

Police say man dialed 911 when lemonade ran out

The Associated Press

Authorities in South Florida say a man was arrested after calling 911 to complain that a fast food restaurant had run out of lemonade.

Boynton Beach police say Jean Fortune, 66, has been charged with abuse of 911 communication.

Police say Fortune called the emergency telephone number and told authorities that a Burger King in Boynton Beach did not have any lemonade.

Reports are that Fortune had to be taken into custody at his home because by the time the police arrived at the Burger King, he had already left the premises. The arresting officers had first been dispatched by 911 to a McDonald's several blocks away.

"I ain't seen him, I tell ya. Have you tried the Burger King down the street?"
